Community Standards

• Records, plots, photos and stories that reflect what you have genuinely seen or done.
• Helpful, encouraging comments and stories about habitat, sightings and seasons.
• Questions and corrections, offered kindly.

• False or knowingly inaccurate species submissions or descriptions.
• Abusive, harassing, discriminatory or threatening content towards other members.
• Personal data belonging to someone else, such as their address, contact details or identifiable images, without their permission.
• Identifiable images or details of children, including in schools or youth group content.
• Precise location details for protected or sensitive species where publishing them could expose the species to disturbance, collection or harm. Keep such records at plot or general area level rather than pinpointing a nest, roost or rare specimen.
• Spam, advertising or content unrelated to biodiversity recording.

Photo rules are covered in full in the Digital Image Policy. In short: only upload images you have the right to share, avoid identifiable people, and never upload identifiable children.

If you see content that breaches these standards, please report it using the report option on the relevant plot, record, photo or story, or by emailing hello@gbph.co.uk with what you found and where.

GBPH may remove content that breaches these standards, and may suspend or remove accounts for repeated or serious breaches, in line with the Membership Terms. Where practical, we will explain what happened and why, unless doing so would create a safety risk.
