Membership Terms

• Membership costs a one-off £25. Includes one member account, one registered plot and one national map pin. Each additional plot and pin is a separate one-off £25 purchase. One account can hold one or more separately purchased plots.
• An active plot is one separately registered patch of land, shown publicly as a pin on the national map.
• The account holder must be at least 18. Schools and youth groups must use an adult-managed account, with no child profiles or content that identifies children.

The total price is shown before you pay. Membership is a one-off £25 for lifetime access, including the first plot and its map pin. Each additional plot and pin is a one-off £25, paid from your dashboard. A gift membership bought for you unlocks when you sign up or sign in with the email address it was sent to.

GBPH may change prices for future purchases. A price change will not introduce repeat membership charges or silently alter the amount shown in the current checkout.

• Provide accurate account and billing information, keep sign-in details secure and use one personal or adult-managed account responsibly.
• Create pins only for gardens, plots or land you manage or have permission to represent.
• Submit records, counts, dates, notes, photos and stories that you honestly believe are accurate, and correct mistakes when found.
• Use the photo identification helper fairly and within any stated allowance. It is optional, and its suggestions are not scientifically verified.
• Follow the Community Standards, protect private information and sensitive wildlife locations, and never post identifiable children.

Plot display names, organisations, approximate locations, wildlife submissions, photos and Community stories may be public. A map pin shows an approximate outward-postcode district centre and does not prove ecological connection or impact.

You keep copyright and ownership. By posting a photo or video to GBPH, you grant GBPH a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, crop, format, display, publish and share it for operating and promoting GBPH, including on the GBPH website, GBPH social media accounts, email newsletters, presentations, press activity and other GBPH promotional communications.

GBPH may add a logo, caption, credit or accessibility description without materially misrepresenting the content. Credit is given where reasonably practical, but cannot be promised in every format. GBPH will not sell member media as stock content, merchandise it, or license it commercially to an unrelated third party without separate permission.

The licence lasts while the content is posted. A member may remove it and use our Contact Us form to stop new promotional uses, but this cannot undo material already printed, published, shared or cached. Full details are in the Digital Image Policy.

Lifetime access means access for as long as GBPH operates, subject to the Membership Terms. Membership and additional plots are paid for once. There is no monthly subscription or recurring membership charge, so there is no ongoing payment to cancel. Members can export or delete their account and data from the Account page. Leaving does not automatically entitle a member to a refund; the refund position below and statutory rights continue to apply.

GBPH may suspend access for a serious breach of these terms or the Community Standards.

If a payment fails, membership or the additional plot is not activated until payment succeeds.

GBPH does not promise blanket refunds. Statutory rights are unaffected. Send payment or refund questions through our Contact Us form.

Members can request account deletion through the Account page. Deletion removes the account and platform records, then attempts to remove associated stored files. Some material already printed, shared or cached cannot be recalled.

GBPH may remove content, make pins inactive, suspend an account or end membership for serious or repeated breaches, non-payment, fraud, copyright or privacy concerns, safeguarding risk, harm to wildlife, misuse of the service or legal necessity. Where practical and safe, GBPH will explain the reason and allow the member to use our Contact Us form.

GBPH will take reasonable care in providing the service but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, error-free maps or accurate member submissions. Members should keep their own copies of important material. The platform and AI helper are not professional ecological, scientific, legal or safety advice.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow that, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or statutory consumer rights. Subject to those protections, GBPH is not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when membership began or for business losses suffered by a consumer.

GBPH may update these terms when the service, pricing or law changes. Significant changes affecting members will be communicated in advance where appropriate. The date above shows the latest version. Continuing a paid membership after a notified change takes effect means the updated terms apply, without removing rights the law gives you.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers keep any mandatory rights to bring proceedings elsewhere in the UK where applicable.
