Cookie Policy

GBPH's hosted account service stores an authentication session in local browser storage so a member can remain signed in between pages and visits. In some preview environments, the session may also be shared securely between GBPH preview frames. This storage is strictly necessary for member sign-in, account security and access to member-only tools.

GBPH does not use this sign-in storage to advertise to you or follow you across unrelated websites.

The national map loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap at tile.openstreetmap.org. When the map is displayed, your browser requests the tiles directly. OpenStreetMap can therefore receive ordinary request information such as your IP address, browser information, requested tile and time of request. GBPH does not use those requests for advertising.

GBPH does not currently set advertising cookies, analytics cookies or tracking pixels, and does not include third-party advertising or social-media embeds. No non-essential tracking storage has been identified in the current public service.

Because GBPH currently uses only strictly necessary authentication storage, a consent banner is not currently required for that storage. This is a description of the present service, not advice about another website.

Before adding non-essential analytics, advertising or similar tracking, GBPH will update this policy and add an appropriate consent choice where required.

You can clear cookies and site data through your browser settings. Clearing GBPH authentication storage will sign you out but will not delete your account, plots, records, photos or stories. Blocking essential storage may prevent sign-in from working.
